Church Development: Community Facilities
Community facilities - completed
For many years parish activities had been constrained by there being no community facilities; that is meeting rooms, lavatories etc. The growing numbers in the parish, especially young people, coupled with the increasing range of activities by parishioners and the local community, has meant the parish urgently needed a Community Centre.
The parish worked closely with the Diocese, Historic Church Commission and English Heritage to ensure the design was sympathetic to the style of the Grade II* Listed building.
Drawings were developed, together with estimated costs, and these were reviewed and discussed at the meeting of the Liturgical Commission when the Commission gave their approval to proceed. The plans were submitted to the Historic Churches Commission in July 2015 when outline approval was given; and final plans with costs were submitted to the HCC for the July 2016 Meeting and full approval given to proceed.
Invitations to Tender were sent out and the schedule for the construction of the facilities was for the Centre to be completed by 2019. Below is a picture of part of the Centre, specifically the Meeting Room.
